State Poker Champ — Arlington's Matt Beattie displays the hand that won him the 2008 Vermont Poker League Winter Season Championship on March 9 at Rutland's Sports Legends Restaurant in the Diamond Run Mall. It was a tournament of champions from across all of Vermont — 110 players qualified out of over 500 statewide players who began competition with the Texas Hold 'Em format by winning the event. The league will pay Beattie's $1,100 entry fee into the upcoming World Poker Tournament Qualifier at Foxwood's Casino in Connecticut in April. Beattie has been playing for six years.

Don Dorr presented his wife, Pat Dorr, with a 1954 Nash Rambler American. In the summer 0f 1953, a 1954 Nash Rambler American was the first car Pat ever owned. Dorset's Terry Tyler sold her the original car at Manchester's then P.T. Motors. Tyler delivered to Pat Dorr the exact same model Friday. Don Dorr has been looking for over 10 years for the exact same car, which was finally found in Ohio. In the photo are Don Dorr, Pat Dorr and Terry Tyler.
